A close encounter of the Tracy Anderson kind....

Well, last week Tracy Anderson was in da house!!!
The Nashville house that is...

She was kind enough to come with her bestie Gwyneth Paltrow and support her at her movie Premier "Country Strong".

And has fate would have it... I was at the movie premier of "Country Strong"!!!!

The premier was lovely, the red carpet crawling with stars and the theater was packed with Nashville's finest talent from the music business- oh, and then there were people like me. The people who live their lives as the talented people's "plus one", yah...we were there too!

Honestly, it never crossed my mind that Tracy would be with GP.

Although I'm not completely surprised because Tracy is so damn cute and tiny she can probably fit into Gwyneth's tote bag like a Maltipoo.

So after we settled into our seats and are awaiting the start of the movie and I get a text from my precious friend Eric Brooks.
It says simply " I just saw Tracy"
My response was simply  " Tracy who?"

(...DON'T GASP people... remember before you think I've dropped my basket asking "Tracy who?" after my entire life has revolved around her for over a month- I never imagined she would be in town. If had realized she was coming I would have stood on the red carpet or in the lobby doing the arm exercises in her honor! Couple that with knowing that Eric is a Vanderbilt college student who read my blog...but I didn't really think he even knew who she was - sooooo, "Tracy who?", I say...)

His response: "Anderson"
My response: "I'm assuming your kidding"  (actually thanks to auto correct on Iphone I believe my response was "I'm assing your kidding" - thank Steve Jobs )
His response: "I'm not"
My response: it was going to be something along the lines of "WHAAAAAAAAAAT?!!! ARE YOU PULLING MY RECENTLY TONED LEG?????"

but I couldn't respond because all of the sudden my phone started BLOWING UP with texts saying "Tracy is in da house!" Tracy Anderson is here? Are you at the Movie Premier?" " Hey - that girl that did the workout video you've been following is at the premier" etc....

OMG!!!! I got so excited that I was hitting James in the arm and looking everywhere for her!!!
It was like I was twelve years old and someone told me There was a Jonas Brother in the building.
James just laughed...I was about to hyperventilate!

Now, let's not forget that I work with celebrities, and have for over 20 years and although I always remain a fan of the ones who make music I love and am proud of them and get excited when I remember they are famous (because if they are REALLY your friends you totally forget they are famous...until the walk out into a screaming auditorium - and then you're like OH! you're SO famous! ha!! forgot!!! anyway, I say all that to say this...I RARELY - IF EVER get starstruck. It's just not something that happens to me much -but I was giddy and nervous and starstruck over Tracy being in the house!!!!!!!!

Well, then I realized there were two theaters showing the movie and wouldn't you just know it...we were NOT in the "Tracy" theater.
Which is probably a good thing...because I would have more than likely crawled across peoples laps during the movie, in the dark, looking for her.
All the while whispering -" Sorry" "excuse me, sorry" "Tracy, that you?" "oh, sorry" "Tracy??" "OH! there you are! (still whispering) Oh, Hey Gwyneth - this will just take a minute, you look great, btw...Tracy...my name is Laura and I have the Thass blog and look at my arms!! and you shoul..."

Now, the reason I would have stopped whispering during the movie premier would not have been because it occurred to me how incredibly rude I was being...but because security pulled me off of Tracy and "helped" me to get outside. That was nice of them to hold my arm like that and make sure I didn't fall in my heels. Some people are so thoughtful.

So I settled into the movie - which is great! You all need to go see it! If for no other reason than to see GP's legs and abs - well done, Tracy and Gwyneth! Well done, indeed!

I knew I could catch up with her at the after party. I was fully prepared to stalk her and Gherm her!!!

What is a Gherm, you ask??
It is a wonderful word that originated in Nashville and let me say this...it is not a compliment.
A Gherm is someone who goes up to a celebrity and bugs them, asks for an autograph or picture and then won't leave them alone.

You can "gherm" someone.
You can be a "gherm".
You can be "ghermed" - well, if your famous.

we are all gherms from time to time...and some people are lifers. You know the ones...always ready to GHERM someone - they are buggers.
If you are one... I urge you to not tell anyone and immediately seek help to stop this insidious behavior!!

As you can tell, I feel strongly about it.
But let me tell you - I was going to find her and gherm the ever living life out of her!
I didn't care...I was going to become one of those people, the gherms, that think that we have a "special relationship" and are close...and that she would care about my being "the blog girl"...yep... I was a mini nightmare starter kit - with Tracy's name on it!!!

So....how did it go when I met her???????????????????????????

Well, heck if I know.
I didn't.
I didn't get to meet her!!!!

shitballs.

Turns out, James had a hurt foot, so I took him home and was going to drop him off and go to the after party - which can be a good thing - it's easier to be a stealth stalker when traveling as a lone wolf..but then I got home and couldn't bring myself to drive all the way over to the party and valet and deal with it. The lone wolf was tired.

I know...how lame.

But, I also knew she would be part of the posse the next couple of nights at the awards shows - which I was also attending - so I knew I would have other chances to be annoying and probably scare her with my enthusiasm.

turns out..I knew nothing. I was wrong.
poop!!!

We sat right in front of GP at the awards, but no Tracy.
and I didn't look for her at the BMI awards because we have mutual friends and I already knew they decided not to attend so GP wouldn't lose her voice from talking too much.
Hysterical how many updates I got about GP - not because I care about following Gwyneth's movements (she is lovely - I mean that in a nice way!) but because everyone I know was on a Tracy lookout alert!!!

I would got text messages for three days from random people telling me then had just seen her!!!
It was actually a little odd after a while... I felt like the hillbilly version of TMZ.

So - after all that.. I never met her.

It just wasn't meant to be, I guess.

But, all in all, it was a great awards week...
GP did a great job!! That is tough to get up there and sing in front of all those amazing talents - but she did a fantastic job!

Everyone sounded amazing... and how great did Reba McEntire look?
Holy Smoke...she looks better every year.
It's like the curious case of Reba Buttons. Just sayin'...

But here was the best part of the night for me....
I was walking down the aisle to our seats and some random guy - who I DID NOT KNOW - goes
" Laura, Laura ...hey! how much are you down to??? Great job!!! I read your blog on Facebook!!"

I couldn't believe it... ladies and gentlemen...it happened...
I WAS GHERMED!!! ahahah!!!
 and I LOVED it!!!!
:)

Never forget - in my brain movie - I am wildly famous - so this came as no big surprise to me.

Thank you random man at awards show who is concerned with the size of my hiney. Thank you for caring. It means a lot.

Please let me know if I should be scared of you.

Have a great day everyone!!!
More as I know it...

I'm going to go workout and I have exciting TAM news for you guys...
more soon.

I'm still laughing at my new motto...

Life is lot more fun with a lot less ass.

Well, after giving it some serious thought...

I have decided what my next "challenge" is going to be...
my hands are sweating... my mouth is dry...I'm scared to even say it, much less put it in writing...gulp.... but here goes...

drum roll please...

My next challenge will be staying under 130 pounds for ONE YEAR!!!!

Oh my Holy Hell.

How did I come up with this ridiculous and lofty goal, you ask??

Well, as you all know I completed my thirty day challenge and it rewarded me with extreme results.
I have never felt so fit and lean in my entire life.
I have also never stayed hungry for so many days in a row.

Then it was over. On one hand...so glad. On the other hand...I felt kind of lost all week!

- as if I had NO idea what to do "post boot camp".
I didn't go crazy eating and I took a couple of days off from working out , then got back in the groove, but I feel like I am slowly puffing up a little everyday - and that's NOT going to cut it!!!

So - it begged the question - how do you maintain these results and not workout three hours a day?
How do you maintain these results and not put all your meals in a blender??

It kind of bummed me out a little - the thought of being the Nutty Professor and watching my body pop back out like a piece of popcorn.

Then it occurred to me - I felt lost because I didn't have a GOAL. I'm a goal oriented person. I set goals in my personal and professional life and without one I am simply floating.
I need a goal...even if it is to maintain - that is a goal. To NOT GAIN weight can be just as challenging of a goal as losing weight...if not more so.
Because it's not nearly as fun to shout out to all your friends.."HEY! Guess what!! Those jeans that I finally fit into??? Remember those??? yah..well...they still fit." Wha-Wha-Whaaaaaaaaaa.
At that point your friends would probably ask you the brand name of those jeans.."Weren't they BFD?"

I read a quote in my friend Wynn's bathroom at her hair salon, Chop Shop. (side note: she colors my hair and does the best blond EVER...how do I know? We all know I'm not blond...until Wynn gets a hold of it)
It was this quote that really summed up the challenges of the upcoming year...

"One can choose to go back toward safety or forward toward growth.
Growth must be chosen again and again.
Fear must be overcome again and again." -Abraham Maslow

I love that.
It kind of sums it up.
So, I'm going to choose to move toward growth.
Suck it Thass. Nice try to come back.

Ok, moving on...back to last week and how I ended up...

So - first things first- I started working out a little harder and eating a little better. That  seems to have have "stopped the bleeding", so to speak.
It also didn't help anything that the day I completed boot camp I had family in town for a few days (which was wonderful!) but not exactly conducive to heating up the upstairs and turning the music up!

I would have flushed them out of their rooms with excessive heat and beat.
For those of you old enough to remember- the image I have in my mind is Dudley Moore running out onto his balcony when the mariachi band won't stop playing in the movie "TEN".

Anyway - after they left town I went straight into three nights in a row of movie premiers and award shows - which are fun- and great for getting your drink on and staying out late on a school night...but not so great for getting back into your routine. Then I topped it off with a big charity event on Friday night...

So...I know, you wish I would SHUT IT and get to the good stuff...

HOW BAD IS THE DAMAGE DONE SO FAR...????

ahhh, not too bad.
I'm up about five pounds since the leanest, last day.

I finished at 126, I am at 131.
That means I'm still down ten pounds and am still enjoying being considerably "smaller".

I knew I would go up about three pounds fairly quickly because the last two pounds didn't come off until the last two days of the cleanse.
I stayed at 129 for a week and 128 for a week - and that was working out 3 hours a day and practically starving!!!

As for the two more pounds that have returned...well, TAKE A TIP folks...

eating your friends dessert while he is on stage auctioning items for a charity - that doesn't help keep the weight off.

It also leaves you with a big ass shame sandwich to eat when he comes back to the table and you have to explain why you ate his dessert. shitballs.

Anyway - I can definitely see the difference from the indulgent week- and I don't like it one darn bit. and I DID workout some and I watched most of my eating - but I can see the difference!
and I'm not having it- soooooo...here we go, mutha scratchers - game BACK ON...

I am committed to pulling the five back off and then going through the paces to learn how to keep it off.

Because, after all... isn't that the REAL challenge?

When I say I have given this considerable thought... I really have.

This scares the poo out of me.

Losing weight can be exciting. Watching the scales move every day, trying on new clothes that finally fit, reaching new goals, getting lots of compliments from your friends...

That is all very provocative. Very motivating. Very addictive.

But you know what is NOT provocative, motivating or addictive...? Doing it forever.

Being faced with the day in, day out, challenge of keeping it up.

We've all been "in the zone" before in our lives- with a new diet or fitness plan - you know the place - where you are ON IT and nothing can steer you off course. You are so in the zone that it doesn't even seem that hard when you look back.

and then there it is again...maintenance. lifestyle. forever.
It can be daunting.

So...I have decided that the REAL challenge will be to maintain my results for at least a year so I can hope to "own" this new metabolism.

As for now - it's kind of like a rental car.

I checked it out, paid a high price and was loving cruising around town in my bad ass luxury rental.
But when my rental agreement was up...oddly enough, they wanted their car back.???WTF..???
"But I want to keep the pretty, sleek car. I like the way it handles"
Well, their answer was simple.
"Then go out and earn enough to buy one instead of renting one. You have to keep paying if you want to keep it". shitballs...again.

Ok, then...I'm going to earn enough to keep it. Flat out.

I really don't have a choice.
I bought a boat load of tiny jeans ... and I can only wear them when I'm driving the rental car.
(and yes, they still all fit...even the 26's - but they are more tight than they were on the last week of boot camp)

and Tracy..if you are reading - and you should be reading, cause I am FUNNNNNNY... sometimes.
Please know that I completely understand why I put a few pounds back on.
It's not a mystery.

I ate too much at night.

Why did I eat too much at night? It's not a mystery either...

because I drank too much at night.

Come to find - even though I'm not a big drinker - it's the fat girl in me that likes to get into the sauce!!! So after a couple of cocktails, my inner skinny girl doesn't stand a chance against the drunk chubby girl that wants a SNACK!!! It's like the voice from The Exorcist comes out ...saying "FEED MEEEEEEEE"

This happened several nights in a row. oopsie.

THANK GOD I don't smoke pot. Can you even imagine it? I would get so hungry I would probably be arrested for knocking over an hamburger joint.
I can see it now- me in my full length gown after the CMA's...peeling off my pantyhose so I could pull them over my face and running into the Krystal's screaming "PUT THE BURGERS IN THE BAG- ALL OF THEM!!! - AND SLIDE THEM OVER TO ME!! Just do as I say and no one has to get hurt!!!!...oh, and may I please have some ketchup."

sad but true...

ok, so here's the plan...

First off, to stay under 130 for a year will require that I get back under 130!!! hahaha!
Duh.

So- I have done my muscle work and cardio for the last three days (and I have LOTS to say about the new DVD's I've tried - but that will have to wait until tomorrow) and I can already tell a quick recovery is coming my way, I just have to stop snacking at night. (Which I did not do tonight, btw)

AND...(spoiler alert for the guys) it's about to be that time of the month. So - hopefully , that is a small part of the problem too.

You know the only thing worse than a hormonal, bitchy, blond? A bloated, CHUBBY, hormonal, bitchy blond.
Don't ask me how I know.

So I have high hopes that I can dip back down under the "deck" and fly under the radar for the year...cause I just buzzed the tower the last few days.

Once I get back down in the 120's (again- should be this week) then we are officially starting the clock.

Whatever date it turns out to be will be the THASSIVERSARY date that I will mark on my calendar.

First two challenges : getting enough weight off to have a safety zone (hopefully about five pounds) which will mean REALLY buckling down and that will have to happen during the Holidays.

Secondly... that will all have to happen during the Holidays. (It seemed worthy of mentioning twice)

I do not want to lose more than the five pounds or so -the same ones I just lost...I just want to "own" it and keep it off.

I also think it will be a wonderful exercise in problem solving, time management and budgeting.

I also plan on trying new things every month to see the effect it has on the struggle to maintain...which are two of the many whistle stops on the THASSLESS highway.

One month I will eliminate dairy, one month it will be sweets, etc.

I will in essence become my own control group.

How much cardio does it take?
How much muscle work?
When does the old man skin FINALLY go completely away?
When does the cellulite finally go completely away?
...or do they ever go away??
I will measure and do body fat periodically too- to see if the inches stay, go, change...etc.

My plan will include a limited amount of "get out of jail free" cards.

What I mean by that is I plan on having some emergency passes that I can cash in if I go above 130 for reasons that were a little out of my control/
They will each have a life of 48 hours. That will buy me 2 days to get back below the deck.

I am still thinking about how many seem fair and realistic. I'm thinking 2 for the first month - as it will be a volatile time having JUST gotten under 130 and I want to also continue gaining muscle.
And after the first month - I'm thinking maybe...4 for the rest of the year...?????

They will not be there to activate as crutches, rather to allow for the learning curve of what is enough working out, what is too much food, what is realistic intake to maintain my goal, but also have a life.

Plus, I do not want to be overly punished if external issues cause me to pop up over 130 for a day or so...flying, water retention, drinking like a shriner. You know - things out of my control!!!
:)
I will also have one "injury/ illness" pass.
Because, life happens.

Hopefully I will not use any of them - but I will have to DOUBLE time it here over the next month to get under 130 and start staying there.
Ugh.

I will break the year down into segments and focus on health, fitness and tight firm skin!!!

and if I find that it is an unrealistic goal - then I will adjust it accordingly - if reality dictates that my body only wants to hang under 131 or 132 - then so be it... but I will only accept that after months of trying with all my might to maintain under 130. That would truly be a miracle!!! under 130 for a year????
I've only weighed 130 twice before...and only under 130 ONCE - EVER. So - let's do this thang!!!!! Who's with me???
I know my friend that lost his dessert will be glad to hear this news.
Relax, KB...your food should be safe through the majority of 2011.

But if you see me with a "pass" out you might want to -"Hide your sandwich, Hide your de-zzert, cause she eatin' everything".

With the holidays around the corner, I only have one thing to say...

"Santa...please bring my a higher metabolism.

or, maybe an XBOX 360 game, do they have "virtual willpower"???

or how about just GIVING me my own luxury car so I can own one and not rent one???
I've been a very good girl."

I know, I know - being a good girl for thirty days doesn't make up for being a little naughty the other eleven months.

Hey Santa... take a tip...no one likes a know it all.

I will try and post new blogs several times a week and we can chitty chat about all sorts of things!!!

-The on going Thass battle!!!

-The crazy things I get myself into...that is seemingly endless.

-New products I plan on trying out for one month at a time and reporting to you guys about whether   they work or not. -cause I'll try ANYTHING!!! That includes lasers, potions, teas... as long as they are  safe.
Who am I kidding, safe schmafe. Does it work or not? I'll try anything... and then I'll let you know!

- We may even venture into trends, fashions and general life tips.

and - OF COURSE - Tracy Anderson Method tips from both my experience and all of yours!! Because I plan on staying true to TAM for the entire year!!!

It's going to be good to be back.

It feels like it was a lot longer than a week ago that I checked in with you all.
 I missed talking to you!!!
Thanks for hanging with me and asking me to continue writing.

I still cannot imagine why anyone would want to listen to me  carry on about my thass, my life, my shenanigans ...but as long as you want to hear it - I'll be honored to share it.
Unedited, honest, raw and hopefully..even if only occasionally...I will stumble on some words of wisdom that will help you to get through your own struggles...and if nothing else...I'm usually good for a cheap laugh.

I'm bouncing back. I'm fighting hard.
We ran the sprint...now let's train for the marathon!!!

I guess I need a new blog name...
any ideas? I'm open to suggestions!

xoxoLa

I took a day off!!!! ...ok...maybe two. :)

Hello everyone!!!

I'm back!!!
Well, yesterday was my first day off the TAM after a strong finish to my bootcamp!!!

I woke up ....late - I slept in! - and it was very odd to not workout! I went to get in the shower and it felt SO STRANGE to get in the shower when I wasn't dripping wet with sweat.

It also felt odd to "be done"...kind of a feeling of..well, what do I do now????

First things first... I ATE breakfast!!
What did I eat? believe it or not... a half of a grapefruit!!! AHAHA! sware.

Then some apple sauce for a snack and geared up for my dinner out!!

Where I "feasted" on dry fish and vegetables!! and they were delicious!!

Oh..and fruit, I had some fruit.
Specifically  cranberries.
...more specifically cranberry juice...with Vodka.

and during dinner I had EVEN MORE fruit...
Specifically grapes.
...more specifically fermented grapes...and damn good ones!

My dear friends SPOILED me rotten with Chateau Haute Brion,  Penfolds Grange and various other "fruits"!!!

I actually ate little to nothing ...until the dessert menu rolled around.

Then I did order some delicious sweet something or another to go along with the several others at the table for the dessert super sampler!

My friends were kind enough to help me monitor my "fruit" intake ...as to not get too much of a good thing after the cleanse.

I felt very satisfied with my very lean meal and moderate fruit intake.

My husband, however, did not feel satisfied with his small meal.
So he and our son David (who is visiting from Chicago) stopped on the way home and got..of all things.. FAT MO's HAMBURGERS!!!!
Can you even believe that???
We never go there  - and I named it as one of the places I avoid as to not turn into a FAT MO...

and the boys walk in to the house with two FAT MO burgers and fries.

I MIGHT have had two bites of James burger and fries...and MAN, were they two REALLY good bites!!!
Unfortunately ...they were probably the two bites that did not agree with my stomach...at all.

Nothing that I didn't expect - and nothing really upset...just some rumbling and "intruder alert" type strange noises coming from my tummy.

I went to sleep so happy with my tasty delights and slept like a baby ...for about two hours. Then - and this was really funny - I woke myself up out of a sound sleep...laughing. I was laughing in my sleep so loud that I woke myself up!!! James rolled over and said...
"Sweetheart. What's so funny?"
I had no idea.
Went back to sleep ...woke up again ...you guessed it...because my own audible laughter woke me up!!!!
I don't ever remember laughing so loud in my sleep that I woke myself up!
James informed me this morning I laugh in my sleep all the time.

For some reason, I really liked hearing that.
I'm not completely surprised by it. And I was not surprised AT ALL when I learned I TALK in my sleep- that one was kind of a given (side note: poor James - he can't even get a break from my talking when I'm asleep) but I didn't realize I laughed out loud in my sleep!!!

I wonder what I told myself that was so dang funny??
Maybe I was just laughing about running my cellulite farmer off my land.

Sadly, after the second outburst of laughter...I was awake.
and I stayed awake.
I have long realized that red wine - one of my favorite forms of fruit - interupts my sleep.

I usually stare that risk right in the eye and say "um, bottoms up!"... but last night I must have been extra sensitive to the red wine because I was up pretty much the rest of the night.

I almost got up and blogged...because I missed you all!!! But I help on to hope that I could go back to sleep, but no such luck.

Why am I telling you all this? Why does it matter?
Because I am laying the ground work to explain/rationalize why I did not work out again this morning!!!
So my one day off turned into two - and my eating today was even more choc-a-block full of poor choices.
Nothing crazy, but a cookie or two and a bigger dinner to fill my tummy.

So guess what ladies...I DO NOT like the way it feels to have my tummy quiet this full!
and - once again - just like Tracy said... I can't wait to work out in the morning!
I miss it and am ready to hit it again!!!

So I will definitely work out in the morning and my post- boot camp plan is to do the following...

I'm going to use boot camp cardio and muscle work plan DVD's just over the weekend due to time restraints to explore new videos while my family is in town visiting..and then next week bring on the design series!!!

It has been interesting being off the plan. If I burned calories answering the question... "now what do you do ?" I would have lost six more pounds!!!

I thought about it a lot. I enjoyed a couple of days off such a rigid schedule and am now looking forward to being back on a more structured , if only self imposed, plan.

I do not want to back slide ONE BIT from all the hard work and amazing results.

So I am gladly getting back in the groove tomorrow morning! I can't wait in fact.

I do not feel obssessed in any way. Just excited about continuing a healthy and steady program that moves me towards a Thassless life and a closet full of little bitty jeans!!

Which , I did manage to find time to go buy four new pairs of pants today..since none of mine fit!!!

When asked what size I wore...I didn't really know!!!
Turns out- I needed size 26 again!!!! hahaa- that cracks me up!!! HArd to believe.

I also got some 27's - but all in all - still shcoked and thrilled with results from the thirty day challenge.

I started to be bothered by having a big meal tonight and then caught myself and stopped the thought immediately.

There is nothing wrong with loosening the reins from time to time. It's healthy and fun and is to be enjoyed. So I enjoyed it and will not think of it again, for it is now in the past.

That got me to thinking about all the people who "mess up" on the boot camp program or their own program and feel horrible about it and grieve the slip up.

I would pontificate on it but instead I will let a REAL author say it in a much more succinct and profound way...

"Finish each day and be done with it. You have done what you could; some blunders and absurdities have crept in; forget them as soon as you can. Tomorrow is a new day; you shall begin it serenely and with too high a spirit to be encumbered with your old nonsense." -Ralph Waldo Emerson

Ladies and gentlemen... those are words to live by.

Those are simple but powerful words that if taken seriously could gift you back years of your life that would otherwise be squandered on regretful thoughts and longing to change what has already been done.

So, tomorrow's a new day! For me, for you, for your plan, for your life.

and I don't know about you...but I'm going to "begin it so serenely and with too high a spirit to be encumbered with my old nonesense."

I LOVE THAT!!!!

That is Thass kicking, bad ass,  KCAN - all positive, all the time - feel good , hit you right in the face
and change your life advice!

and I for one...am going to take it!

Over the weekend I will post all the numbers, figures and other factoids about my journey - as promised!

Then next week we will DISH all about the goings on of the Country Music Awards, BMI Awards and me stalking Gwyneth at her movie premier.

And then I can finally post some pictures of my new Tracy Anderson bod with some hair and makeup -  and show you guys I actually do take showers!!

We got some fun coming on!

Life is a lot more fun with a lot less ass. Just sayin'...

DAY THIRTY!!!!! THASSMAS DAY HAS FINALLY ARRIVED...

Where do I even begin????

I cannot believe I am about to say this, but... I did it.

I did it.

I did it.

HOLY SHIT - I DID IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I just typed those three little words... and started crying.

I did it.

Now I can't keep the tears from running down my face.
And the funny thing about it is...I had no idea I would be this emotional about it.
It isn't about the weight loss, or the new body, or all the fun blogging or all the friends I've made during this crazy, painful, challenging and rewarding month...

I am emotional because It didn't even occur to me until today how deeply it would effect me to realize how powerful I can be when I honor myself.
When I completely apply myself.
When I give myself my word and then let  NO ONE and NOTHING get in the way of me keeping that promise to myself.

I am shocked at what I have done in thirty days.

I am shocked that it took my forty one years to learn how to do it.

I am shocked that it was the hardest thing I have ever done ...and at the exact same time, the easiest.
It's like I studied harder than I ever have for a test that I was terrified to take- but was so mentally prepared that the test wasn't anything I couldn't handle. No test is really that hard when you know the answers.

I am truly shocked, and almost afraid of, what I now know.
I now know what I can accomplish when I put my mind to it.
When I make no excuses.
When I get right down to business, prioritize myself and treat myself with the same respect and love as I give those around me.
When I set goals, plan the work, and work the plan.
When I prepare, manage my time, and execute.

When I tell myself I can do something, and then I believe me.

Ya know what? This changes everything.

How could it not?
How can you do everything I mentioned above, and in thirty days- ONE MONTH - completely redefine what you are capable of...completely dominate what has alluded you and tormented you for your entire life.

Think about that.

How can that not change everything?
Well folks... it does make you stop and think.
What else have I always wanted in my life, ...for myself, ...for others, ...to accomplish, ...to believe could happen... but haven't thought possible??? I can think of several things, I'm sure you can too.

I think I'm going to give them some serious thought, make a list and get after it...blogging about it all along the way !!!

I will see the list differently  now as I have proved that one thing I never thought possible, that I have fought myself over all my life- ALL MY LIFE - is completely possible. I can change my body, completely change it. It's not only possible, but  probable- "do able" if you will...and...

I did it.

There they are again - those three words. and there I go again...more tears!!! Sorry - can't seem to help it.  I'm really proud of myself.

That's always been something I would hesitate to say -OR not think I earned the right to say it -OR not think I deserved to say.
I am an extraordinarily out going person. I am confident and happy and fearless.
and like most everyone else I know... I am a little broken.

Anyone who can live to be 41 and not feel like they would be better suited on sale in the "scratch and dent" section, rather than brand new...well, I suppose they must not have lived that much.

I live life wide ass open...and as they say - I do not want to go quietly and gracefully through life - I want to give it hell and wear it out and when it's all said and done, I want to slide into the grave like I'm stealing home.

Life is messy and beautiful and thrilling and painful.
It is filled with expectations that are never met and dreams that do not come true...and it's also FILLED with joy and laughter and love and unexpected displays of kindness and daily miracles that leave us breathless.

It is my nature to argue to the death if you pay me a compliment...and to never forget, in a million years, if you tell me something negative about myself.
Why is that???
Well, I have noticed that the compliments I have received lately - compliments that I have received directly in regards to the results I have worked hard to achieve over the last month...I have willingly and graciously accepted. It has come easily to me to say, with a pure heart...simply, "thank you."..and feel great about it.
Interesting, isn't it?

Again - this isn't about the weight or the Thass or any of that (although the improvement in both rock and I'm thrilled about it!!!!!) it's about the complete commitment,  the follow through and the honoring of the promise to myself.
Like I said... it's telling myself I could DO IT...and believing me. Then...doing it. and...

I did it.

ok- I wont keep saying that!!! actually...I probably will!

hahaha!! ok....enough about all the emotional baggage issues and blah, blah, blah, crap - I'm just rambling on anyway, because I keep crying!!! So ...let's talk numbers!
Let's talk real, live, results!!! Let's talk THASStatistics!!!!
After thirty days of pain, misery, suffering, hunger, Kale nasty, sore muscles, highs and lows...
was it all worth it?

OH HELL YA, IT WAS WORTH IT!!!!

Drum roll please......

In thirty days ..... started at 141...ended at 126!!!!!  I HAVE LOST 15 POUNDS!!!

In thirty days.... started at 26.41% body fat...ended at 16% - OVER A 10% CHANGE IN BODY FAT!

In thirty days....started at 133.5 mm in skinfold test...ended at 69mm!! LOST 64.5mm in pinch test!!!!!

In thirty days... I have LOST 20" - TWENTY INCHES from my body!!!!!

In thirty days...I have gone from 37.2 pounds of fat and fluid... to 20.3 pounds of fat and fluid!

In thirty days...I have completely changed my body.

I feel stronger, more lean and healthier than I ever have before.

I am committed to maintaining my results and cannot wait to keep up the great work, try new DVD's, keep up with everyone else's progress and continue to work the Thass into shape!!!!

I do not have a perfect body, and I am not concerned with it ever being "perfect" ...because that is an illusion and an unobtainable goal. But I do like the idea of being the BEST I CAN BE - finding and maintaining the BEST BODY I can... having a healthy body, A FIT A STRONG BODY...and a fit and strong mind to go with it...that is my goal.
If I have THAT BODY and THAT MIND...then I have MY perfect body.

That is sexy.
That is powerful.
That is attainable.

and THAT is exciting!!!

Ladies...and gentlemen...
It has been some month!!!! We have talked about periods, poop, saggy skin, sweat, kale juice, cellulite, mantras, motivations, bullying yourself, being kind to yourself, and internal talk radio stations.

We have cursed, cried, and laughed, we've committed multiple murders of inner fat girls - we've even taken a child's toys and shot the bird at an old man on a tractor.

We've learned we are all alike...all over the world! We have made friends in Italy, Australia, Istanbul, Germany, Asia, Canada- to name a few.... and..let's not forget...good ole Nashville!

We've loved Tracy Anderson. Worshipped Tracy Anderson. Cussed Tracy Anderson...wanted to roll Tracy Anderson up in a yoga mat and throw her in the river!!  and in the end..we've really appreciated Tracy Anderson.
Thanks Tracy for doing the ten years of research, so we could just show up and take the class.

I believe your good buddy Gweynth said it best...you get out of it what you put into it.
you put your all into it and I did the same!!!

and I got more out of it than I ever imagined possible. On so many levels...so , seriously...thank you!!!

(sidenote: I'm going to Gwyneth's movie premier next week...I may stalk her. I'm guessing she should be able to recognize me by my TAM signature arms. We will probably become besties by the awards show. It could happen. I am wildly entertaining.)

So.... although I am short on "before" pictures ( I only took two -but they went away when I dropped my phone and broke it)  I found a recent one a friend just emailed me - from a month or two ago - in the summer - weighing in about 141 or 142 -it's the photo in cutoffs (which, btw - are the bigger ones - the smaller ones fell completely off me the other day when I tried to put them on) ...

Please do not fail to notice the lovely back fat. I am super proud of that.
Back fat's best friend...muffin top - is in the house too...you just can't see him.
This shot does not do justice to just how thoroughly chunky I was feeling and looking. Although - clearly- still happy!
And although I was not fat, and have not really been fat in twenty years - only various degrees of fit to kind of chunky...at this weight NONE of my clothes fit - I felt horrible and my gut was seriously out of control. Needless to say - my cellulite Farmer was rockin' a bumper crop and then some.

"BEFORE"

Here is another BEFORE shot... and what's is interesting about this one..in this shot (from about a year and a half ago) I weighed about 132-ish.
that is TEN pounds less than when I STARTED TAM - but as you can see - it was not a very "fit" 131...just kind of a soft, gooey 131. Only 6 pounds more than today's weight in!

NOW- I was going to take some really cute pictures today, with lotion on my skin that made it shiny like Tracy's and hair and make up done...but instead- what you get are shots of me just after my final workout - sweaty as hell, no make up - and taken by myself in the mirror with my Iphone!!! Not the best shots - but hey - it's something! There is one full body shot from before I started sweating!!! I'll try to take more next time I actually have some make up on and my hair done...so you can see I can be kind of cute every once in a while!

...... today, after thrity days on he TAM method... AGE: 41 WEIGHT: 126 BODY FAT:16%

Excuse the weird bulge just under my jog bra...it's my heart rate monitor!!!
6:30 am - getting ready to workout for 3 1/2 hours...

Check out my TAM arm!!!

LOOK! ...an ab...I see it !!! - it's a junior starter kit ab..but It's still exciting!

Tracy arms!!!
I've never been under 20% body fat EVER - not EVER....until now!!! 16% Ba-by!
Ok- so that's all I've got for now!!!!!!!!!

Those are the pictures I had for ya!
Tomorrow I am going out to dinner with some dear friends to celebrate and plan on having a little cocktail and enjoying getting my drink on!!!! Although it will probably only take two sips and I will be a silly girl.
I also plan on taking ONE day off from working out - tomorrow morning - to take my sweet and patient puppy on a long walk. He has gained some weight while his mommy has lost some weight!!!

After that I will be back on it - trying ...and reporting to you all ... how I like the other DVD's, my food plan, my maintenence plan and future measurements... I already have it planned to take more measurements in a couple of weeks.

Also - coming up... the CMA awards, and movie premiers and lots of fun things to report on !!!
You wanted more blogging... you're gonna get more blogging!!!

I will also post ALL my numbers and all my calendar notes in the next day or two...
so be patient...I may take tomorrow off and enjoy the day with a little less structure...but then I'll be back.

I have had a ball blogging to you all about my adventure and can't thank you all enough for sending well wishes and encouragement along with your own personal stories back to me - it made SUCH a difference!!!
Thank you , thank you, from the bottom of my THASS!!!!

We CAME, We TAMed, We KICKED SOME THASS!!!!!

and although this may sound like a cliche...

IF I CAN DO THIS...YOU CAN DO THIS. Seriously. Or whatever you want to do for yourself - it doesn't have to be this program - it could be going to school, quitting smoking, learning something new, or getting in shape. Any change that you think you can not do...you can.

Tell yourself you can do it. and then have the courage to believe it.
No one can do it for you... but no one can keep you from doing it. It's your choice.

I did it.

I did it BY THE BOOK. For thirty days..in a row. Not ONE bite of food that wasn't on the food plan. Not ONE missed rep. Not ONE missed cardio session. Not ONE day without a struggle. Not ONE day without a victory. I did it.

I am dog ass tired, still hungry... but so excited!!!!!...going to bed with a belly full of puree...looking forward to breakfast and eating a solid food again... I think I'll have half a grapefruit. Living on the edge. That's how I roll.

I can't believe I get to type the next words...

30 DAYS DOWN....
0 DAYS TO GO...

and they were ALL, every last one of them...BY THE BOOK.

I did it!!!!!! (I've stopped crying..now I'm just smiling!!!!)

xoxoLa

PS- I want to dedicate this entire journey to my brother, Buddy.
We recently disagreed on exactly how much a person could effect and change their life in thirty days.
You were a big part of my motivation. I love you.
Oh...and I was right. Just sayin'...

DAY TWENTY NINE... THASSMAS EVE!!!!

Holy Smoke!!!

I'm about to go to bed on DAY TWENTY NINE!!! That means...drum roll please....tomorrow is my last day!!!!
DAY 30!!!!

Are you shitting me???? Did I actually make it??? Am I actually going to get to report to you all that at the end of tomorrow night I went 30 days, in a row, without cheating ONE TIME!
How about that for a kick in the knickers??!!

Oh, that's right, it just happened...I am officially going to be impressed with myself!!!!

I cannot tell you how excited I am!! But - like Tracy said...don't be too quick to pat yourself on the back. Oh- whatever!!! I'm totally patting myself on the back- I'mso excited I may pat myself on the front!! ahhah!

thirty days and NOT ONE BITE of ANYTHING!!! NOT ONE SIP of ANYTHING - not on the plan! NOT ONE REP MISSED, NOT ONE DAY SKIPPED!!! I am starting the back patting process a tiny bit early because it could take a while before I am done.
Chickey-Chickey-Bow-Bow... Thassmas Eve has finally arrived!

ok , calming down now. Sorry for all the yelling. I'm better now... back to matters at hand.

I will be interested to see how I feel after my workout in the morning.
Besides the obvious - exhausted and releived - that I feel everyday- I would not be surprised if I get a little emotional! One things for sure - you know I'll tell you all about it.
I would imagine tomorrow's most difficult challenge will be finishing the ENTIRE day.

I get measured, weighed and pinched again tomorrow at 3:00!!!!!
So...that will FEEL like the finish line...although the finish line won't really take place until I wake up on Wednesday morning!

I kind of wish I were measuring on Wednesday morning - but, oh well - this will be great. I will finish strong tomorrow night and can at least post my actual FINAL weight on Wednesday!!

Speaking of weight... guess what the Thass fairy gave me this morning???
No, not a poop. She gave me another pound off the scale!!! 127!!!

LOVE THAT! That is a total of 14 pounds so far!!

Of course, I like numbers to be rounded up - 14 is a random number to me and it bothers me - so now I want to ose ONE more pound just because I like 15, better than 14.
I know - ridiculous.
It's like driving through a parking lot and it says "speed limit 14 miles per hour" ...really??? just can't risk the reckless shananegins of that extra mile per hour.
What committee sat down and determined 14 was the limit....
That kind of things makes me crazy!!!!

I like things to match and be very orderly.
It's an issue.
I'll deal with it...maybe.

Soooooooooooo....tomorrow is going to be kind of a crazy day for me! I have to get up and do my "little" workout...today's took 3 hours and 20 minutes!!!!!???????!!!!! WT..????
I think that is absurd...but at this point - one more ain't gonna kill me. (hopefully not famous last words)
After my workout I have to get to the office and rock out some work- then get ready for the final pinch!!! Measured at 3:00 and then our Son, David is coming in town to visit!!!!

That thrills me - I have the greatest step-children in the whole wide world. I wish they all lived in Nashville. I wish they all lived in our house!!! (If it were really big...I mean, let's not get carried away)

Anyway- David is coming to visit, so I will get to endure one more large meal prep tomorrow night, while I choke down some blended drink and watch the boys chow down! But I WILL finish strong!!!!

Tomorrow night I will find some time, even if it's late, to post some numbers for you all and some end of day 30 thoughts!!!

But since I will be so excited to spend time with David, too - I may post a lot more on Wednesday! Especially since Wednesday mornings weight will -for me - be my OFFICIAL last weigh in for a final weight loss number.

I am also going to post all the notes off my thirty day calendar. Because although I started it more for the visual motivation of checking off "X's" - it turned out to be a VERY important little tool for me throughout the journey. Specifically to refer back to patterns of when I felt strong and when I hit walls...so I will post all those notes for everyone - just in case you want to use it to compare to how you might be feeling.

So - back to this morning...a funny thing happened. I woke up and felt
VERY sore...
VERY tired...
and VERY, VERY SKINNY!!!!
Even James looked over at me this morning and said - "My God!" you shrunk again overnight!!!"

That's when I weighed and found what the Thass fairy left me!!!

Anyhoo- I went upstairs to get going and I sware - I stared at myself the whole time I while I was dancing because I couldn't believe how many little muscles I could see in places I've never had them before in my life!!!

To quote the great theologian Justin Timberlake ..." I'm bringing Sexy back. Yeah!"

I rocked my workout today! Although it was long... I mean long - like Gone With The Wind long... I mean like Catholic wedding long... I rocked it out~ I felt strong and capable and fit and great!
I didn't struggle like the previous two days and when I got through the muscle work, I was up for the cardio and had no problem with it - mentally or otherwise.

I can only hope that tomorrow's swan song is the same report! According to my detected patterns on my calendars - tomorrow shouldn't be too rough on me.
My back even felt better today...it's been bothering me a little bit. It gets tight at my lower back - mainly due to lots of rotation and my legs getting tight.
Joel has come over a couple of times to help me with it- Thanks Joel!!!

I will include his phone number tomorrow with my numbers for those of you that have asked for it so you can call him to measure you! He's a sweetheart and very smart about all that kind of stuff!

Now - before you think it was all roses and purees...The Tracy Anderson Method didn't go down without a fight today after all. I should have known it was too good to be true that I felt so great DURING my workout. Because after it...
well, I still felt ok, but WOW- I got really hungry.

I haven't struggled with hunger on the cleanse anymore than I did on the regular food plan.
I have just not enjoyed most of the "drinks" - but today...today I was hungry.

I was HUNGRY LIKE THE WOLF.
Maybe Duran Duran did Tracy Anderson's Boot camp when they wrote that one. so- I have sloshed as much water into my system as I could and now I am going ot hit the biscuit and go to sleep.
Because I can no longer take being hungry. It started this morning and hasn't let up all day long.
Shitballs. I'm over it. I want to eat something I can chew, please.

One more day. I got this.

You know what I did get to chew on?? ...all your awesome comments!

I got such a thrill out of reading my comments today on the blog! I can't tell you how thrilled I am that ANY of you have enjoyed this, been inspired in any way, or just  that you have had a good laugh!!!

I love that several of you reported that you have "never followed a bog until now" - especially since I have never blogged before now - so I'm glad we were tender with each other while we lost our blog-ginty. It wouldn't have been the same with anyone else.
Hold me.

Wait...there were SEVERAL of you that said that...oh dear...there goes that slut thing again...
Oh, you know what - who cares??? - it's a love in!!! What does it matter now?
I'm about to go Brett Farve on all your asses and send you half naked pictures of myself tomorrow anyway- whether you want to see them or not!!!!

and... if I ever completely get the old man skin off my tummy and the two unfortunate little chunks of fat on either side of my hips (you know the little ones that your jeans squish to the side when you walk! They are much smaller -but still there) if I ever get those off...(and I will!)...I will probably take to wearing that cut off t-shirt and thong I told you about before..

People will talk. I won't care.

They will just be jealous and drinking big ole glasses of Hater-aide.
Wha-Eh-Va.
Hate the game, Don't hate the playa...

haha - ok, I'm out of Ricky Lake audience member sayings.

Back to the comments you have left me - I love that you have been inspired but more than anything -
I  love that you all have laughed.

and you have made me laugh too... and smile... and cry. So- it goes both ways. I thank you very much.

Laughter is so important to the soul.  We all need to laugh more - it can be tough to do when things get stressful, when recessions hit, when life fights back, when asses slide down the back of legs...

but I say - laugh in the face of it all.
Laugh hard and from deep down in your belly. It heals all things.

I have never been afraid to poke a little fun at myself, and I'm so happy you all have laughed along with me.
I try not to take myself too seriously, for it doesn't suit me.
Never has, and I hope it never does.

I am excited to see what happens after this...cause let me tell you I'm feeling some real "Well, if I can do that- I can do anything" coming on!!!!

I just might stir some sh*# up! Wanna go with me? Come on , now - let's get this party started!!!!

We may have thought it was just going to be thirty days, heck I only thought I would have one follower (thanks Molly!)...but this might just be the beginning!!!!

I'm going to go grab some sleep before I'm up at 5:30 to tackle my LAST DAY's workout!!!!!

I hope you all have amazing days - all over the world!
I'll be back tomorrow with numbers. photos and more of both on Wednesday!!!!

Let's hope they are THASS-TASTIC!!!!!

29 DAYS DOWN...
1 DAY TO GO...   (one!!! ha! ONE!!!! ONE DAY TO GO - as days go- that's not many...just sayin')

all BY THE BOOK... (including tomorrow night!)
